If there is an activity more satisfying than splitting wood, I have yet to find it. I really think paradise would be a pile of fir, a maul that was never dull, a mug that was never empty, and something suitably Wagnerian playing in the background.
...Upon rereading, I suspect that the Germanic portion of my ancestry may influence me more than I had previously believed.

Whatever. You know Odious, and therefore you know I'm telling the truth when I relate his virgin reaction to the Forging Scene in Siegfried: "I can't believe this wasn't used in Bugs Bunny" combined with "I want an anvil." Odious, like me and Tolkien, was doubtless a Wagnerian before he even reached the womb.
Also, we really must start that brewery: Nothung, neidliches Bier!
