IF Comp 2018 Review: Abbess Otilia's Life and Death
tl; dr: Meh.
Expansion! There's a lot to like here: the experience of reading a hagiographic chronicle in quarto, with snarky historical commentary.
...And now that I think harder about it, that's about it. The story is not gripping (and I speak as someone who has read the accounts of Gerald of Wales voluntarily); the visual effect of the marginalia and the pseudo-illustrated manuscript are wasted, since there's just too much going on visually that doesn't ever gel.
Also, the opening promises that it will reward replaying, but I found little to explore beyond the two main storylines.
